Stop The Presses!

This is what Abby's dad's Facebook status says tonight:

"NEWS: This is the first night since Abrielle got the CD,
exactly 2 years-4 months-5 days that we have not played it for her when she goes to sleep.
This CD is her crack!
Yes that is right 858 days of the 1,2,3's.....
the funny part is I still love that CD just as much as she does.
Ahhhh, my lil Ab!"

Normally, the mere suggestion of listening to a different cd at bedtime is enough to elicit shrill screams of protest from Abby, which have more than once led to a meltdown. And yet tonight, as we got ready for bed and had a "Pajama Party with Two Dancin' Dogs" (from a Charlie & Lola book), she was willing to dance to something besides They Might Be Giants.
I was not sure I'd ever see the day.

Right, Penny?! It's pretty cool that she is learning to balance some of her OCD tendencies.

I just saw your post on FB relating to the Hear Comes Science CD/DVD and about your daughter listening to the 1, 2, 3's. My daughter also has autism and she LOVES TMBG! She does not listen to them every night, but we have definitely listened to them quite a bit. She actually sang the entire Science album for my husband yesterday (all from memory). We also saw them in concert a few weeks back and she had a great time. The Science CD is great and I'm sure your little one will enjoy it.
I know what a huge deal changing a routine can be, I'm glad your daughter was open to it the other night. I've had many days come that I thought I would never see. Emmy amazes me every day as I know your child does for you. Best of Luck to you.

Kerri- Welcome to The Gentle Giant. I'm so glad you saw my post. I wondered if anyone would stop by. We love TMBG and my husband and I were fans even before our kids became fans. It's nice when your kids like the same music you do. I don't know if we could have handled a Kids Bop cd or something every night at bedtime. LOL! So glad to meet another mom with a child on the spectrum. I hope you comment again and often. Again... Welcome!
