Abby's Room

Here is Abby's room in our new house.
She has requested purple walls, which she may get, but not for a while.
In the mean time, I think it turned out pretty cute.
The castle was a hand-me-down gift from her cousin.

She has a CASTLE in her room!

What a blessed little girl!
She does have to temporarily share her room with her brother, but I think the castle more than makes up for that.

Beautiful! Love the lighting in this photo. I note the leaf - so cute. Sophie has one over her bed also!

Mann, I wish I had a castle in my room when I was small.

what a wonderful room for such a lucky girl. I like the picture on the wall, is it one of yours perhaps?

Thanks, Everyone!

Sarah- Does Soph have the same Ikea leaf? Somehow that wouldn't surprise me. We do seem to have all sorts of things in common. :)

Rosalina- Me, too! I can't believe how blessed we are to have received such a cool hand-me-down. It's something her dad and I wouldn't have made a financial priority, so we feel very fortunate. Her brother loves to play in it, too.

Trojan- I love that painting. It's not one of mine, but it was done for me by a dear old friend. She was in my late Grandmother's art club. I do love that painting and consider it to be a treasured piece.

Penny- Thanks! Speaking of Green... the way I really wanted to paint Ab's room was green on the lower half of the wall, like grass, sky blue on the upper half of the wall and a dark blue on the ceiling with stars and planets like a night sky. But if she still insists on purple in a year, I'll concede.

Getting my mom on the phone ASAP. I'm missing a castle, and better late than never.

Good idea! I have spent my fair share of time in this castle. I was a poor deprived child as well. No castle for me. My mother is currently here visiting... maybe I should start working on a guilt trip. ;)

Hi Erin, have just started reading your posts and already it's one of my favourites. I just love Abby's bedroom. . . I mean . . every girl should have one . . How wonderful to start each day with a different adventure. And then the seagulls . . I love it all and am going to spend some time today getting to know your family. Thanks for sharing. Thank you, Paula! From you that is an especially great compliment considering that one of the things I admire in reading your blog is your design sense. :)

Taking your advice and reading older posts, I came across this one about Abby's bedroom. What an awesome room! In reading these posts I've been amazed at how much Abby reminds me of my little girl, Emily (almost 6). They seem to enjoy many of the same things such as music, leaves (Em loves the outdoors), and now that I see the room I'm guessing butterflies. I am so glad I came across your post on FB. Reading this blog has made me realize I'm not alone in my adventures as a mom of two, one of them being a child with autism. Reading your posts has been therapeutic for me as I'm sure writing it has been for you. Thank you for sharing.

Oh, Kerri! Thank you so much! It's comments like yours that make it all worth it to me. Sure it helps me to write, but I guess I could just keep a journal. It's knowing that I'm not alone in this adventure... that other mom's out there are experiencing similar experiences, too. I'm so glad you read my comment on FB and made your way here. I write this blog as much for you as I do for myself. XO
